Film
All The King’s Men is the story of the rise of politician Willie Stark from a rural county seat to the governor’s mansion. Along the way, he loses his innocence, and becomes just as corrupt as the politicians he once fought against. Also included is the romance between one of his “right hand women” and the up-and-coming journalist who brings Stark to prominence.
Advise and Consent, with it’s all star cast, takes a look at the duty of the Senate to Advise and Consent on the appointments the president makes. In this fictional movie, based on the book by the same name, the Senate has to consider the nomination of a Secretary of State who is a suspected communist. The film goes through the whole process including the Constitutional aspects and the backroom deals. It is a long and, perhaps, boring film, but well-worth paying attention to.
